I use these snowy, cold winter months of Montana to read and learn as much as possible about the things I generally like to pursue in the warmer months: gardening, beekeeping, herbal medicine, etc. I’m not much of a fiction reader, I used to be and I still read novels occasionally but generally speaking my reading table (and yes kindle app) are full of non-fiction resources.
The great thing about this time spent trying to improve my skills is that it lets me dream more and come up with concrete ideas of things we’d like to do here at Two Frog Home. My journal is always close at hand and while I take notes about bees, I also plan out things I’d like to do this year or next to further along our small farming dreams. Two Frog Home is still under a cover of snow but it won’t be long until we’re tapping maples and starting seeds. In the meantime, I’ll keep reading, learning, and dreaming about what to do with all this white space.
I’m working on compiling a list of my recent favorite reads and learning tools, look for that next week. In the meantime, care to share any dreams, plans, or resources you’ve been working on recently?

I’m picking mandarin oranges and passing them around to friends, thinking it’s time to quickly plan and plant my garden. I forget that January and February are planting months in Southern California. But I know I need to write and consult a journal–maybe that is something I should begin–saving my thoughts.
