I imagine many of you in the states are getting ready for a Thanksgiving feast. It’s just Jeff and I at home this year and well, we’ve decided to forego a bunch of the feasting. We’re having a local chicken instead of a turkey, not making a pie, and will only have one or two side dishes none of which will be stuffing. I think we’re both questioning the decision not to do turkey but we’ll survive, ha.
Despite the lack of a giant feast, we are taking it easy this week. I’ve taken time off from the day job, Jeff is only working a few days and well we’re just hanging out. There are writing plans and new software to learn as well as knitting and sewing projects. I don’t mind saying I rather like home vacations.
We kicked the time off with a small road trip to do some thrift shopping and antique browsing. It was fun and the time together in the car as well as lunch in one of our favorite restaurants in northwest Montana was exactly what we needed.
These home vacations are so very restorative to my soul and body. Hanging out with Jeff in our home, drinking coffee and soaking up the heat from the woodstove, those are the days I most look forward to in this life. Still, I have some fun things in progress and I can’t wait to share those with you later this week. I hope you’ll stay tuned for those and enjoy your week whether vacationing, feasting, or not.
