Simple Connections

Personal, real connections with other human beings is at the core of my simple living philosophy.  As an introvert, this is more difficult for me than it sounds but still I like to think I do pretty well.  Because of the classes I teach, this blog, and my involvement in other activities I get to cross paths with some truly amazing souls.

Last week, one of these souls came back across my path after about 4 years.  The last time I saw this amazing man was at a local auction about 4 summer’s ago.  At the auction, I was eyeing up a box of old cookbooks and recipe file boxes.  We didn’t stick around long enough to bid on the cookbooks.  Well, this amazing soul that I knew through some work activities, picked up that box of cookbooks for me.  I had just changed jobs right before that auction and lost touch with this man.  On Friday, he tracked me down and delivered the box of treasures to me.  He’d kept them in a shed for the last 4 years!  That is so special to me in ways I have a hard time expressing in words, but it reminds me (again) to make sure that I pay attention to the people and their tender souls when I do cross paths with someone.

This incredibly kind gesture has inspired me to look deeper at my relationships and my social media connections.  I love connecting with all of you who come here to read and comment.  I truly enjoy ”chatting” with you on Facebook and Twitter and to that end, I’m making some changes in how I make connections through social media.  I’m trimming my friends list on my personal Facebook page and going to up the conversations on my “fan” pages and on the I Eat Local Because I Can group.  I hope you’ll connect with me and with other readers of Two Frog Home in these places:

Tell me, what amazing souls have you crossed paths with recently?

What a thoughtful thing for that person to do for you. It reminds me of how great it feels when someone says or does something totally unexpected for me and it just makes my day. I want to be that kind of person but I fall short so often when I have the chance.
