“I orchestrate my mornings to the tune of coffee.”
~ Harry Mahtar
Truly, no day starts here at Two Frog Home without coffee. Oh, we’ve given it up over the years for different reasons but we both always go back to the steaming cup. I don’t believe it’s the caffeine as much as it is the ritual, the comfort of that morning warm cup between our hands as the aroma fills our noses. We walk three miles before drinking coffee 5 days a week, so we’re more than awake by the time we take our first sip and yet we both savor our coffee.
That morning cup is truly where we orchestrate not just our mornings but our days. We talk, we scheme, we plan as we sip that amazing coffee. We connect with each other, we talk about each other’s to-do lists, we double check errand lists, in short we have our Two Frog Home staff meeting over our morning cups. It’s a simple thing, like most we do but it grounds us as we go about our days, fuels us to stay on the path not because we’re caffeinated but because we’ve touched base with each other.
What simple morning ritual fuels your day?

Coffee! So happy I can have it again.
1. Drink coffee made by The Professor
2. Eat banana
3. Make breakfast
4. Eat breakfast while reading local newspaper
Every morning.
I grind the beans by hand, fill my grandmother’s glass percolator and check my computer stuff while it brews. It takes longer than an electric coffeemaker, but the end result is more flavorful and rich.
I then take my cuppa-oddly black these days–to my wingback chair by the fire. I sip and read, pray and write. Then it’s off to a walk or other exercise before the rest of the family wakes up.
