I’ve been having some trouble with my fingernails recently. They’ve been especially brittle and cracking. This is new to me as I’ve never had problems before, I’m drinking plenty of water and eating right but I assume some of the medications I’ve been taking for my Rheumatoid Arthritis is causing this problem. I wanted to try and fix it as naturally as possible. I looked around for a few nail oils and creams and in the end decided to make my own. It seems to be working too, so I figured I’d share the recipe here.
Moisturizing Nail Cream
-
1 Tablespoon Grated Beeswax
-
3 Tablespoons Almond Oil
-
3 Drops Lemon Essential Oil
Combine the beeswax and almond oil in the top of a double boiler. Heat gently until the wax is melted. Stir in the lemon essential oil and pour into storage containers. Let it cool and harden before covering and using. Yes, it is that easy. To use: rub a little on each fingernail and cuticle before bed.
Notes: This is dangerously close to a lip balm recipe too, so use it on your lips too. I used lemon essential oil because I read that it was very good for nails. You could use more or less for scent purposes according to your personal desires.
The recipe makes quite a bit so I split it into two tiny jars and gave one to a friend. This would be a fun little gift, too.
