My Goal: Part 1) To be making 1/4 of our mortgage payment through my side business adventures by the deadline of this challenge
First, I have to admit that I freaked out slightly over the weekend about this goal. We pay our taxes and insurance with our monthly mortgage payment and when I figured out the amount I thought I had bitten off more than I could chew. I talked it over with Jeff before I wrote the goal and again when I freaked out. He thought I would just be shooting for 1/4 of the house payment not the taxes and insurance and I thought I was shooting for the whole kit and kaboodle. For the time being, I’m only working towards a goal of 1/4 of the actual house payment, if I get to the point where I’m including taxes and insurance that’ll be awesome but not the original intent of the goal.
Progress Report:I submitted my first ever magazine article query last week and have had some promising feedback from the magazine’s editorial staff (though no concrete deal, yet) about that query. I’m keeping my fingers crossed about this, it would mean so much for me to have this happen on many different levels, but it would go a long way towards helping me meet this financial goal. I’ve been hanging up flyers about my upcoming canning classes and from what I understand the classes are filling up fast. I’ve been sewing lots for an upcoming craft show and to hopefully fill my etsy shop.
To check the progress of all the particpants, please see the page dedicated to this challenge (click on Doing Not Thinking above my banner). If you want to participate its not too late to join in – we’d love to have you along!

Good luck on the article!! Exciting stuff!! I’ll post my update soon.
Neat!
Good luck on the article. Always remember if the first place says no, try, try again (a whole bunch of places at once, even.) And if they say yes, see if you can use the same research with a different slant for another article. (Says the woman who doesn’t write nonfiction–but I always read the columns in Writers Digest anyway, just in case I start.)
I love your idea for reaching goals. This is an area I have trouble with as I have so many things I want to accomplish yet I am constantly frustrated at my success rate. Your challenge is just the kick in the butt I needed to get motivated. Just started reading your blog this last week and enjoy your enthusiasm and energy.
Just caught up on your blog tonight. I know I do not comment here often as I only catch up from time to time because of lack of time. Regardless, I enjoy your blog! Just curious how do you eat the dandelions. I have read about making wine with them and eating them in salads. I have yet to try them.
Good luck with the article and yay on your progress!
Good luck on the magazine sumission. I’m impressed! Oh, and I haven’t forgotten your email! (Willow heaves big sigh) I WILL reply soon!
