Fall is Coming

in Home & Garden

Saturday morning, we woke up to a balmy 37 degrees Fahrenheit.  The temperature obviously dropped a bit lower in a few spots in the garden as we have some curly black leaves signaling frost on a few cucumbers, winter squash, and summer squash plants.  Thankfully, none of the tomato or pepper plants were hit.  The sunflowers escaped unscathed as well.

Fall is coming whether or not I’m completely ready.  I love the Autumn season, but I was hoping for a bit more summer so that the tomatoes, melons, and winter squash could ripen up more.  The garden is still producing well but I’m not holding out much hope for the winter squash.  For now, however; I’ll continue to savor what I have left of this summer season while looking ahead to the season of apples and cool nights with warm sweaters.
