On Saturday, I hosted the first (of what I hope to be many) simplicity circle. A group of 5 amazing women came to my home, shared a potluck meal, and talked about many things. We’re hoping to rotate houses and meet once a month for a potluck meal and some kind of themed discussion. We might grow, we might not. It was a great couple of hours and something that has inspired me in many ways. Inviting people over to our home, most of whom were relative strangers, is a huge step outside of my normal comfort zone. It was, however; completely worth it. I am looking forward to see where it all goes from here.
We didn’t end up sitting around that fire because my goodness the wind was just too fierce and the rain fell intermittently. It was a nice idea for about 5 minutes, however.

The rest of the weekend was spent attending to the details of our normal life. Gardening, laundry, and enjoying time with my love. The garden is springing to life in so many ways: some garlic is beginning to pop up through the mulch, strawberries, too. Sedums, irises, and tulips are putting forth lots of green but no flowers just yet. It’s all wonderful and exciting.

What plants and other good things are emerging in your garden and life these days?

Your simplicity circle sounds wonderful.
Everything here in the midwest is blooming. Apples, peaches, Redbud, tulips and violets. Really has been quite a show after a long hard winter!
The rhubarb, garlic, elephant garlic, walking onions, sunchokes, volunteer potatoes, apples, quinces, pears, cherries, plums, nectarines, kiwis, goumi, aronia, grapes, and hops are doing their thing, along with the ornamental poppies, English bluebells, money plants, campions, forget-me-nots, and the last of the tulips. Peas, favas, bok choi, kale, lettuce, collards, turnips, and cabbages are up.
But I lost tomatoes, peppers and eggplants in the heated grow tunnel when it suddenly went down to 27 a eek or two ago. What was that about. Will have to buy starts again. What happens when there are no starts to buy?
