The kitchen has been a buzz with lots of activity lately, though different than usual. Our kitchen is truly the heart of our home and so it’s generally a hub of activity. Lately, I’ve been working on a few freelance articles and recipe creation which leaves the kitchen full of journals with notes and ideas and measurements as well as lights for photo taking. It’s an interesting mess but all creative messes are in my experience.
There’s also experimentation with some home remedies. We’re trying some golden raisins soaked in gin as an anti-inflammatory remedy. We just started on Monday, so I can’t really talk to its effectiveness yet but I’ll keep you all posted.
Also, brussels sprouts are in season! We love these little green orbs of goodness so much and while the pantry is quite stocked, we’ll be eating our fill while we can. Over the weekend, we tried a new recipe that sautéed the halved veggies with a bit of bacon, garlic, onions, and walnuts. It was yum and honestly, I can’t wait to make them again.
What experiments are happening in your kitchen?

It’s shoulder season here, so we’re just starting to get more root veggies and dark leafy greens. Our CSA farm has declared it squash month, so I’m looking forward to getting some roasting done – especially before it’s in the mid-80s again next week. Sigh.
