Whether you celebrate or not, I simply hope you enjoy this day.

We’re celebrating with a small feast featuring local and homegrown foods, a tiny bit of gift giving, and some Christmas Cordial made weeks ago specifically to share this week.  I’m not drinking very much in the way of alcohol right now but I did have a small bit last night and it was mighty good.  Christmas Cordial was simply whole cinnamon sticks, a few whole cloves, and some allspice berries thrown into vodka and allowed to steep for about 6 weeks.  Once strained we added just a touch of sugar syrup to the liquid and voila, our homemade Christmas Cordial was born.  It goes great in a bit of sparkling cider and I can easily see this becoming one of our few Christmas traditions.
