We had an amazingly, simple and completely restorative weekend here at Two Frog Home. We got a ton done and while we worked hard it was all stuff we love doing, stuff that fills our souls and our pantry.
We inspected the beehive and even tasted a bit of honey from a piece of burr comb. It was delish! We shelled peas on the porch, enjoying a nice breeze as the cats lounged at our feet We talked and pushed peas into bowls resting in our laps and threw the empty hulls into a bowl for the worms to break down into compost. The entire weekend was spent like that, enjoying home, each other, and good, fresh food. In the end, it was exactly what of I think of as the perfect, simple weekend.
What’s your idea of a perfect, simple weekend and when was the last time you experienced it?

Sounds lovely!
We’d actually planned to run to the beach this weekend (which is something we love) but ultimately we opted to stay home and have a simple homesteady weekend, gardening, finishing up a few projects, and sitting by a backyard fire sipping hard cider at night. Was just what I needed to feel restored for a busy week ahead! If we could have teleported to the beach, to find a sunshade and picnic magically awaiting us, we might have opted differently, but the running around to prep for the adventure just seemed too much like work, and not the productive kind.
My idea of a perfect weekend is being able to spend time doing the things around the house that I can’t do during the week while I am taking care of the kids I keep. I love being able to organize dresser drawers or the closet or the extra room we use for storage. Since my husband lost his job he’s here most of the time so if he’s out of the house while I’m doing my thing I listen to my favorite music much louder than I would if he was in the house. I just love being home and only doing what I want to do. That’s my idea of a good time!
