Shelf of Potential
We’ve had this small plant stand / bookshelf in our kitchen forever. It came with us when we moved last year and to be honest, both Jeff and I hated it. We bought it and it was one of those particle board, cheapo things you buy when you just need something and don’t have time to look for the right something. Anyway, its been with us for years and we both hated it but never spent any time looking for a replacement.
Yesterday a replacement found me. I was perusing Craigslist when lo and behold there was the perfect shelf. The seller said it was made of real wood and was in need of some paint but all in all was in good shape. I e-mailed the minute I saw it and picked up the new shelf for a whopping $6.
It does need a bit of sanding and some new paint, but that won’t be happening until spring when we can tackle the project outside. For now we’re calling it “shabby chic” and the “shelf of potential.” I’m quite pleased with my new shelf. It’s also wider than the one it replacement, giving me a little more storage space.

I was looking on Craigslist for a new kitchen table. I want a smaller square table instead of the slightly too large oval table we currently have and I’d like a nice old farm table, hopefully one will find me soon.

I like the shelf! Some of my favorite stuff was someone else’s first! There are a few things that we given/”inherited” that I would like to disappear sometime, too… but that’s OK. Someday my kids may need a hundred cane-seat chairs that are too ‘fragile’ for anyone to sit on!!
Having a good snow day here!
We’ve been on the hunt for a dining room table on Craigslist for a year now. I keep calling the second the perfect table JUST sold.
Good luck with your search!
I’ve never used craigslist. How do I go about it? is it just like want ads in the paper??
It’s alot like the newspaper but usually you can see photos of the item. It’s free to list most things so its a great way for folks to list stuff. I’ve found so many wonderful things including people to barter fruits and veggies with on Craigslist.
I love the “new” set of shelves. I have a couple of small wood ones I have used for all sorts of things. Got one at a Thrift Store and sister in law gave me another filled with books. They’ve probably been in almost every room of my house. Since I’ll read anything I can get my hands on any size bookshelf is a welcome addition to my home. There are always plenty of books to fill one.
I’ve sold on craigslist but I’ve never bought anything. At this point in our lives we don’t need MORE stuff, just LESS. I’m glad you found someone in my situation.
Oh, I like selling on Craigslist too. It seem that I too have enough stuff, but I’m trying to find nicer pieces in my instances. The old stuff isn’t bad, just not exactly what I want either. I’ll be selling the old on Craigslist, soon enough!
