Cold Snap
Brrr… We’ve been hit by a cold snap. Granted its not as cold as predicted but its mighty chilly. It was perfect weather for dinner with friends in their amazing home on the snowy Saturday evening. My goodness, we had such a good time, good food and great conversation. Its nights like those that have us reconsidering our hermit-like ways.
It was also perfect weather for sitting inside next to the wood stove and crafting holiday gifts. I’ve been knitting several hats and am almost done with those. In fact, I’m just about done with the holiday crafting, just two more projects to finish and I’ll have those done in plenty of time. It feels good to not be stressing over the holiday crafting.
I have to admit that I gave up on the socks, for now. I had a tiny breakdown over the socks and a few mistakes and the stress of trying to get them done in time for Christmas was just too much. They’ve been put aside, I’ll tear out the yarn and start over in the new year. I feel better, much better letting go of it for now.
How about you? How are you coming or letting go of your holiday crafting?

I’m just happy I didn’t plan on *too* many crafted gifts for the holidays. For holiday 2010, I’m starting right after Christmas! And then there’s the IOU scarf for my sister-in-law. We had another gift in mind that we couldn’t and there’s no way I can get it done on time now, so she gets a card good for one scarf and a trip to my local yarn shop to pick out yarn–plus lunch. We rarely hang out just the two of us and it might be good for familial relations; she’s a nice lady but I have more in common with her husband, Himself’s brother.
I need to make a crochet cuff bracelet but thats about it. I would make more but currently can’t afford any new supplies.
Now that St. Nicholas Day has come & gone, I feel a little less stressed. I’m currently knitting some Barbie clothes for my nieces’ little girls. Tiny/small-sized needles leave me w/hand cramps after a little while, so I switch over to the hat’s I’m knitting for my son-in-law. Most of the rest of the knitting is done… Oh, I have some fingerless to finish up, too.
Plus, some sewing… ACK! What am I doing on the computer?!?!
I have a couple of nights of hand sewing to finish 3 gifts. I spent the whole day figuring out something I want to do x’s 8, so I need to get moving on them! I copied a pattern, but had to figure out instructions, placement, cutting. Hoping the next 8 or so go real fast!! I’m a slow knitter, so I gave up on any knitted gifts long ago, but I still want to make myself an actual sweater to wear instead of scarfs and hats. I made slippers for me and have worn a hole in the first layer. I am such a beginner and just want an easy pattern and unfortunately, I once saw with a rolled neck and hem, no ribbing and have not found it again. I don’t want to have another living room decoration WIP!! Keep knitting and crafting and good luck!!
