Twomgroups of turkeys paid us a visit this weekend:

The two groups visited on the same day and it was quite the lesson in watching the two Tom’s strut their stuff. It was an interesting experience and we were completely taken with the turkeys watching them for a good long while. Meggy, too, watched with great interest. Coalby slept through their visit, I wish I could have photographed both cats and the turkeys… maybe next time.

We have new neighbors. They moved in over a week ago, but we hadn’t had a chance to meet them until Saturday. I’m excited to say that they seem like nice folks and I look forward to getting to know them better. We made them a welcome to the neighborhood basket that contained a jar of applesauce and some chocolate sourdough cookies.

Stacy, of Little Blue Hen, is the winner of the two years of Two Frog Home giveway! Thanks to everyone who entered.
Independence Days Challenge – Week 28
Plant Something: Nothing, and that’s not likely to change until March of 2010
Harvest Something: Nothing
Preserve Something: Nothing
Reduce Waste: The usual composting and recycling, little purchasing. I crafted using only items from my stash.
Preparation & Storage: I found another pair of jeans at the thrift store for a whopping $5.
Build Community Food Systems: I taught a canning class to a wonderful group of folks.
Eat the Food: As we’re not buying any groceries, we’re only eating from storage. We’re eating tons of good stuff, too, I plan on sharing more about what we’re eating later this week.

I love the basket and ribbon! Doesn’t it feel great to give? I have 2 sets of wonderful neighbours and they spoil us rotten! Warm fresh baked bread, cookies, hand knitted shawl for my baby girl, removing leaves from our lawn when I was recovering from surgery…I love to return the favour and gift them with homemade treats, preserves etc. as well.
It’s just so nice to see the hospitality go around…
I would love the recipe for those chocolate sourdough cookies! They remind me of ones from my childhood…

I love the basket full of yummies for your neighbor. I also always have goodies for new neighbors (or old ones). My fall tradition is pumpkin bread- for either a new neighbor or to take along to a dinner party.

How nice of you to take a basket to the new neighbors! I wish I lived in a neighborhood like that. Alas, I don’t know even one of my neighbors.
Love the turkeys! I’m sure that cat knew better then to mess with such big birds and was probably trying to figure out what the heck they were!

Hooray! Thank you! I’m so excited to see what I get — I will make sure to post about it. =)
What a thoughtful gesture towards your new neighbors. We haven’t even met ours!
