Moments I’m Enjoying

by Kathie on October 16, 2009

The weather has caused a shift in our daily lives and in the random moments I’m enjoying.

Knitting gifts by the fire happens little by little each evening.

Reading and more reading.  I’ve been reading light novels in the form of Finger Lickin’ Fifteen by Janet Evanovich and re-reading disturbing & thought provoking speculative fiction in the form of The Handmaid’s Tale by Margaret Atwood.

Drinking hot cocoa and chatting about next year’s garden with that sweet man of mine.

Sitting in my pajamas and putting my feet up while Jeff does the same and talking over our day and planning tomorrow.

Eating freshly made apple pie in the latest variation – crumble, oatmeal crust, or traditional pie and debating the best version to date.

How about you?  What moments are you enjoying?

Love your knitting patturn! The moments I cherish are those when I don’t have to go anywhere or do anything. I love lying on the sofa with my knitting watching inane TV so my brain can switch off. Sharing these moments with my husband is an added bonus. It’s also good not to have to get up early to go work, when we can share a cup of tea in bed and talk about what needs to be done either for our own projects or for the rest of the family. Tonight starts the first weekend when I don’t “have to do” anything. I’m really looking forward to knitting, sewing and sorting out my herbs together with putting up some early Christmas gifts to leave with friends we shall see before the holidays but not during.

It is still very active here in the south…soccer games and fairs and all of the wonderful end of year sights and smells…I love this time of year with its chilly nights and still warm days, football games and harvest festivals…but this year I find myself longing for the quiet cold evenings of winter…where the land is sleeping and I have plenty of time to snuggle up under a quilt with my girls and read our latest endeavor…we have already picked them out, Little House in the Big woods and Beauty and the Beast await patiently on the bookshelf for those nights…they are coming :)

Sweet scarf pattern! Is that yarn Red Heart’s part bamboo ‘Spa’?

My moments? knitting and reading in my favorite chair, opening a new box of super wash wool ready for spinning.

Willow it’s Tatamy Tweed (a cotton / acrylic blend – washable is important for this gift). I like the yarn a lot.
