Muddy Head

Jeff and I seem to be sharing mutations of the same cold.  One of us will start feeling better and the other is hit with new symptoms and round and round we go.  I’m hoping we’re about ready to kick this bug out once for all.  Tuesday I was coughing so uncontrollably that I had to break down and buy some over-the-counter cough medicine.  Yesterday the cough disappeared for the most part only to be replaced by a faucet where my nose once was (too much information?).  I’m tired and have that muddled head feeling, where everything seems foggy and everything takes two to three times longer to complete than normal.  I hate feeling inefficient.

Thankfully, work is at a nice pace right now and I don’t need to be moving too fast there and since we still have snow on the ground at home I can just rest up as well.   However, as we all now the to-do list and chores don’t stop just because I need to rest.  It seems to quadruple doing times of illness, but I’m doing my best not to get overwhelmed and remember that its okay to have some ash on the wood stove hearth and that dirty dishes can indeed sit overnight in the sink.  My OCD tendencies can be a blessing and a curse, I tell ya.

In the absence of something more coherent from me, let me share some recipes I’m looking forward to trying out here at Two Frog Home:

Oh, feel better, guys! That passing around the bug thing happens way too much around here. At least if one of you feels decent, it’s marginally better than the version where you’re both trying to will the cats to heat up some soup for you because you both feel too wobbly to try cooking.

Get some rest, try to relax, and consider it good excuse to sit with Patches and knit.

So sorry you are fighting that cold. Get some rest and I hope you get to feeling better soon.

I hope you feel better soon! Some of my first graders have been sharing with me again and this time the ‘ickiness’ starts with a headache, which I had yesterday. I hope I nipped it. And I hope this particular brand of whatever it is doesn’t move east.
