What I Won't Give Up
Phelan over at A Homesteading Neophyte tagged me to fuss up to what I won’t give up to comply with green living standards or to save the earth…
My KitchenAid Mixer & Grain Mill Attachment – Yes I have a hand crank grain mill, but its incredibly difficult to use and takes forever to get even the smallest amount of grain. I love using the mixer for everything from kneading bread to whipping egg whites and everything in between. While I could do all of those things without my mixer, and would if I ever had too, I’m not giving up my mixer until I absolutely have too.
Hot Water Heater & Baths - I know baths use more water than showers and I don’t take a hot bath everyday but a few month are extreme pleasures when I have the time and I’m not willing to give those up. While I know I can heat water in other ways, there’s something so absolutely wonderful about just turning the tap and having hot water.
My Sewing Machine – I know how to sew by hand, but oh my goodness do I prefer my wonderful little Elna.
Clothes Dryer – I do hang laundry out on the line, but there are times when the electric clothes dryer is just so darn convenient, especially when we still have snow in June.
Toilet Paper – I know folks are switching to toilet rags in some circles, I’m just not there yet.
I know all of the above are luxuries and if the time ever comes when I have to give them up, I’m prepared, but I’m not willing to give them up any sooner than forced.
I’m tagging the following blogs to to do this meme:

Thanks for participating! Great list you’ve made up. I agree about the clothes dryer. While I hang my clothes there are times when it’s not not possible (ie: rain).
Please post back to the original post on my blog and ask those you tagged to do the same. Thanks!
Great list!
If we had a bathtub that wasn’t way too tiny to relax in, I’d probably have the occasional bath on my list too.
I don’t know how I would answer this kind of question. If everything changed and I HAD to give up my way of life, I would flow and change and learn to enjoy things differently. It is exciting to me that I could learn to heat water for a hot bath or hang my clothes inside or reuse water. And then I start wondering about what “being green” really means…
I know this is just for fun, but it is too much for my brain to handle. I so appreciate your thinking of me, though. I LOVE being part of the community of bloggers I have found through you, Kathie. There are some great people in the world doing amazing things.

Ok, I finally did it! Thanks for this. It was good to think about it!
