Here’s my report card for my 2007 Goals. I came so much shorter than I can remember in years past. I’ll post my 2008 Goals tomorrow.
1. Work to get my local food group off the ground and viable. Just this week, I purchased a domain name and hosting plan for the next year. I’m excited and think it will be a good thing on so many different levels – health, sense of community, gardening, spiritually, etc. - This never happened mainly because I got too involved with another local community group that took every spare moment I had.
2. Continue working out (3 days a week minimum) and eating healthy. - I did continue my working out, the eating healthy was sadly more off and on than I care to admit.
3. Spend more time cultivating my spiritual life. I’d like to spend more time in prayer and meditation as well as spiritual reading. I feel the need to strongly and passionately seek the Lord and am poor at doing this. I can make lots of excuses but won’t instead I’m going to focus on change. - I did really well for the first 6 months then let other activities get in the way sadly.
4. Create enough crafty stock to participate in at least one craft show next Christmas season. More would be great but the goal is at least one show in 2007. - I scrapped this goal around August but did sell some items on etsy.
5. Continue working on my book idea. I’ve been working on a craft/cookbook for the last few months. I know nothing about publishing and find myself a bit overwhelmed by the task. There’s a continuing education class being offered at the local community college on literary agents, publishing, etc. I’m thinking the course is geared more towards fiction writers, but I am hoping that I can gain some helpful insights from it anyway and it’s cheap enough. - Miserably failed on this but it’s back on the goal list for 2008.
6. Expand the veggie garden through container plants. This will be a never ending goal for me, the garden needs to constantly expand so that we can be more self-sufficient. - The garden was expanded but as I said this is a never ending goal.
7. Can more. Ideally I’d like to have enough home canned food so that next winter we need to buy very little from the grocery store. I’ll can what I grow as well as pick up deals at the local farmer’s market. Jeff has commented several times recently about how much he enjoys our home canned goods and that he’d like to expand it more as well. - I think we did fairly well here (see my updated Pantry Building Page) there are few things I want to do differently and some new things I want to can (i.e. ketchup) in 2008.

Hi!
I read your comment about making ketchup, here in aussie I think that’s what we call tomato sauce

I’ve just posted my ketchup recipe on my blog, it’s a sauce to die for if you are inclined to try it.
Each batch makes between 3-4 one litre bottles
cheers
